Marina meets with Greek Shipowners Association

Officials from the Maritime Industry Authority of the Philippines visited the Hellenic Coast Guard. Leading the way, Marina Chief Maricial Amaro and STCW Office Director and Crossworld Chairman Emeritus Capt. Eleazar Diaz.

The Marina officials also met with the Union of Greek Shipowners Association as the two sides discussed preparations for the upcoming EMSA Audit. They also talked about developments at IMO regarding the 1978 STCW Convention and recent amendments.

The two sides also tackled Manila’s application and preparation for the IGF Code, Polar Code and passenger ships new training requirements.

Marina also followed up in its application on the Bilateral Undertaking between the Government of the Hellenic Republic and the Philippines. There were also discussion on Seafarers’ Training and Certification Informatics System of Philippines and Hellenic Seafarers’ Training and Certification Informatics System (MARIS – Maritime Career Office Platform). 
Philippines presentation on applied e-learning courses and the Demonstration of the Verification System of Seafarers Certification of Philippines was also tackled during the meeting.

Finally, the officials met with major greek shipowners in order to further strenghten the bond and mutual support between the two countries.
