Hotline numbers for MLC 2006 released

Manila, Philippines – The government opens a hotline for seafarers, ship owners and maritime stakeholders that will provide information on the implementation of the Maritime Labor Convention 2006 (MLC 2006).

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) urges the public to call the number (02) 440-3918 for any inquiries on the enactment of MLC 2006 which is considered as a bill of rights of seafarers.

DOLE-NCR Regional Director Alex Avila says the hotline will help in ensuring that the rules and regulation issued by DOLE, including certification requirement will be comprehensible to everyone.

Meanwhile, DOLE Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz adds the hotline is very important in communicating the agency’s policies, programs and services on the MLC 2006.

“It will facilitate maritime stakeholders’ access to valuable information on our efforts to comply with the MLC, 2006,” concluded Baldoz.
